Enrique de Melchor ~ Herencia Gitana (transc. Faucher) ~ Music Book & CD
Master transcriber Alain Faucher presents the guitar music of Enrique de Melchor. De Melchor was steeped in Flamenco tradition since very young, playing alongside his father Melchor de Marchena, and accompanying countless traditional singers. As a composer for the Flamenco guitar, he is second to none, and his solo and ensemble work (with Tomatito and Manzanita for example) contributed inmeasurably to the Flamenco guitar explosion of the 1970's and 80's. His style is relatively traditional by today's standards, though he is definitely part of the Paco de Lucia generation. His compositions and falsetas are always well crafted, and deeply rooted in the traditional sounds of Flamenco. The book contains six pieces selected and impeccably transcribed by Faucher: Limonera (Farruca), Candil Minero (Taranto), Marismas (Fandangos), Cafetal (Guajiras), Zaralmondi (Colombianas), and Danza de los Gitanos (Bulerias). All are in notation and TAB, with introductory text in Spanish, French, and English. 75 pages, with the original recordings on the accompanying CD. An important release.
