El Viejin ~ Algo que Decir vol.3 ~ Music Book
These three volumes contain transcriptions by Enrique Vargas of the toques from El Viejin's CD of the same name, a record which was named CD of the year by the Spanish Press Association, and remains representative of the Cano Roto school of guitar playing. The pieces are not just transcribed, but rather used as a springboard for an extensive method on modern Flamenco guitar playing, which spends a good bit of time delving into the interaction of the guitar with the dance. In addition to the pieces, which are a treasure trove, there are invaluable analyses, discussions, and suggestions about the history, compas, and characteristics of each form; scales, chords, tunings, rasgueados, etc. for the guitar; palmas and footwork to accompany each form; a Flamenco glossary.... The third volume addresses Solea por Bulerias (Caño Roto), Sevillanas (Cuatros), and Mineras (A mi Hijo Jonatan). 184 pages. All text is in Spanish and English, and all music in notation and TAB.
